I’ve always adored Shea Moisture’s hair products because it works wonders for my hair. After constantly passing the skin care products in stores, I decided to go ahead and give them a try. Thanks to a sale at Walgreens— BOGO 50 percent off, I settled on trying the Sensitive Skin Facial Cleansing Oil, the Clarifying Mud Mask, and the Problem Skin Moisturizer.
In a previous blog, I’ve mentioned that I wanted to use more natural skin care products on my face. I started with the Simple skincare line— you can find that review here. Being that Shea Moisture is free from Parabens, Sulfates, Phthalates, and much more, I think I found the pot of gold when it comes to products for my skin.
Sensitive Skin Facial Cleansing Oil
Oil cleansers are something new to me and something I had to get used too. With this one, you apply the product and rub it in before putting water on your face. It may feel weird and oily, but it does wonders.
Instead of leaving my skin dry and only slightly cleansed, my skin was clean and bright. I could definitely tell the difference between the product I was using before and this one. I’ve only been using it for a few weeks, and I can see that my skin responds to this product more than Clean and Clear or any other similar products.
The smell is amazing, but it may be little strong for anyone who’s sensitive to smells— especially in facial products. I can describe it as natural oils and floral scent. Overall, I’m a fan of the cleanser, and I would purchase it again.
Clarifying Mud Mask
After buying multiple individual facial masks, I figured it was time to finally buy a full-size jar, so I settled on this one. I’ve used it a few times already, and the best thing about it is that it’s light and quick. You only need to apply a thin layer and leave it on for 10 minutes. That’s it! It wipes right off. It’s perfect to use in the morning right before work or on lazy nights when you just want a deep clean before bed.
I mostly use this mask when I know my skin needs a good detox from the week. Since I live in the South, makeup and the heat can take a toll on my skin. And this has been a perfect answer to solving my problems. I would highly recommend it if you’re a mask person.
Problem Skin Moisturizer
Last but not least, we cannot forget the moisturizer. I went back to grab this after trying out the cleanser. When i finally finished my Simple moisturizer, I decided to try this one since it also helps balance problem skin. As a bonus, the label says it works great under makeup! I mean, why not give it a try.
In all honesty, I love everything about this product BUT the smell. It’s light, doesn’t leave me oily throughout the day, and clears my skin. The scent is the only thing that isn’t pleasant. It’s hard to describe, but I know it comes from the mix of natural ingredients. The best thing is that the smell doesn’t last. It seems like once I put it on, it fades away— so that’s a plus.
If you can stand the smell, I would definitely recommend, but I would probably try another moisturizer before purchasing this one again.
I’m excited to try more products from this company and would love any recommendations from you guys in the Shea Moisture skincare line. Also, this post is not sponsored.
